Month of October

*The American Legion and Auxiliary holds monthly meetings at the Baker Center starting at 7 p.m. on the fourth Monday of the month. On the first Saturday of the summer months the Auxiliary have been at the Farmers Market informing the community about our projects/programs that help our Veterans. *Playhouse 51, Millington’s Community Theater, meets at 7 p.m. every third Tuesday of the month in the auditorium at Harvell Civic Center, 8077 Wilkinsville Road.  Anyone interested in community theatre is welcome to attend. Meetings concern current business before the group and planning sessions for future productions. *Soul Out Ministries’ nutritional meal are served every Thursday at the Baker Community Center at 7942 Church Street from noon to 1 p.m. The program is a local non-profit organization, tax deductible. *The Exchange Club of Millington meets at Old Timer’s Restaurant in Millington at noon every second and fourth Wednesday of the month. Guest are always welcomed. For more information, call 872-8888.

*The Millington Lions Club meets at Olympic Steakhouse in Millington every second and fourth Tuesday at noon. The Lions Clubs works around the world for visually impaired and hearing impaired. The public is welcome to join the Club members and to make additional inquiries.

*The EA chapter is here in Millington. Emotions Anonymous International. Emotions Anonymous (EA) exists to support individuals with emotional difficulties in their efforts to live a more manageable life by using the Emotions Anonymous Program of recovery. Oct. 29

Homer Skelton Ford & Dodge presents Aquatseli Bluegrass & Olde Tyme Music Festival from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. at the Meeman Shelby Forest State Park in Millington. The event will feature Bluegrass bands from high and low like The River Bluff Clan, Tennessee Ripple, 7 Mile Creek, No Time Flatt, Randal Morton and more. There will be free workshops. The event will benefit the American Cancer Society. Advance tickets are available at a discount at www.ourbluegrassfest.com For more information, call 591-5840.

Oct. 29

Yard Sale will be held Oct. 29 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at West Union CP Church, 3099 West Union Road in Millington.  For booth rental or more information, call Sharon at 876-3265.

Oct. 31

Trick R’ Trunk and Voodoo in the Bayou Haunted House will be held Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. with food and drinks, games, and treats provided. All ages are welcomed to Embury United Methodist Church located at 2060 Locke-Cuba Road in Millington.

November

The annual Christmas in the Forest Bazaar is scheduled for Nov. 19 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. with lunch served from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. of soup and cornbread or hotdog lunch, drink and dessert included. The Bazaar will feature homemade jellies, james, relishes, baked goods, crafts, wreaths, Christmas gifts, raffles and white elephant. The bazaar will be at Embury United Methodist Church located at 2060 Locke-Cuba Road in Millington.

Nov. 5

The parade route will be Navy Road from Newport Avenue to Easley Street. Staging will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Newport Avenue There will be no parking in the staging area – There is ample parking along the parade route. You may wish to park near the end of the parade route and walk or arrange a ride to the line up. Navy Road will be closed to traffic at 9 a.m., so use Easley Street to Nelson Avenue and take a right into the staging area. Please assemble your group in your assigned area by 10 a.m., Groups arriving after 10 a.m. will not be allowed to participate. The parade will start promptly at 10:30 a.m., making a left on to Navy Road and traveling east until arriving at Easley Street. For more information, call 873-5770.

Craft Bazaar will be held Nov. 5 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at West Union CP Church, 3099 West

Nov. 5

The St. William Women’s Club is having their Annual Harvest Dinner and Silent Auction on Sat. Nov. 5, 2016 in our Life Center located next door to the Church.  We will be serving Turkey and Dressing and all the trimmings.  The Auction will be from 4 to 6:30 p.m.  and dinner will be served starting at 5:30 p.m. Tickets will be available in advance. Nov. 5

Millington Central High School Baseball Booster Club’s 2016 Trojan Open Golf Scramble will be held Nov. 5 at Glenn Eagle Golf Course in Millington. The event has check-in at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start at 10 a.m. It is a four-person team scramble format with food served following the tournament. There is a cost and the entry fee includes green fee, cart, one mulligan, one red tee and lunch. There will be tournament rewards. Nov. 12

Millington City Beautiful Gardening Series will continue Saturday, Nov. 12, 11:30 a.m., “Seasonal Wreaths Made Easy” from Anna’s/Munford Florist at the Millington Public Library located at 4858 Navy Road, in Millington. It’s free to the public. For more information call 872-2609

Nov. 20

The Insight Art Gallery in partnership with St. Anne’s Episcopal Church will host an Artists Giving Brunch on Nov. 20 at noon, at 4063 Sykes Road in Millington.  Artists are asked to come, mingle, have some lunch and meet the public.  This effort is in support of the Millington Food Bank, all attending are asked to bring a can of food to donate in support of this great Cause.  This event gives the public an opportunity to meet the artists, gives the artists the opportunity to give back to the community.  The brunch is free and open to the public. This Fall

Free Art Class at St. Anne’s Episcopal located at 4063 Syke sRoad in Millington will be held throughout the fall every Thursday at 10 a.m. except for holidays. You must be at least 15 years old. The first class will be held Oct. 13 (Basic Sculpture). Students will be required to bring their own materials to each class — bring nothing the first class. For more information, call 409-8705.
