A couple of first timers, some familiar names and some we have not seen in a while highlight the 2021 Millington Trojans varsity football schedule. Head Coach Chris Michael returns for his 12th year as the leader of the Trojans who will be in Region 7-3A for the next two years. Millington’s new Region opponents are Bolivar, Bolton, Covington, Dyersburg and Ripley.
Aug. 20 Kirby (H) First meeting since 2016. Millington leads overall series 10-8 and have won 9 of last 10 in series
Aug. 27 Munford (H) The annual M & M Bowl. Millington leads overall series 51-26-2. This is the 80th game between the two schools & 39th consecutive year they have met. Cougars have won 6 in a row
Sept. 4 Covington (H) First meeting since 2016. The 2 schools played for 59 consecutive years from 1926-84 Was Byars-Hall High School until 1970. Covington leads overall series. 52-18-1 & 18-9 since becoming Covington in 1970.
Sept. 11 Fayette Academy (A) This will be the first meeting between the schools although the head coaches are familiar with each other. Michael Hodum was head coach at Fayette Ware prior to taking the same job at Fayette Academy.
Sept. 18 Bolton (A) Trojans lead overall series 19-8 and have won 12 of last 13 games between the two. This is the first meeting since 2019 as the COVID-19 pandemic wiped out the entire Bolton season in 2020.
Sept. 25 Northpoint Christian (A) This is the second meeting ever between the schools. Millington won 31-28 back in 2019 and the schools were scheduled to play in 2020 but the COVID-19 pandemic forced a cancellation of the game.
Oct. 1 Ripley (H) Ripley leads overall series 19-11-1. The Tigers have won each of the last 3 years including a playoff matchup in 2018. Prior to this, the two teams last played in 1996.
Oct. 15 Dyersburg (A) Millington leads overall series 9-7. Dyersburg has won 3 of the last 4 and the two schools have traded playoff wins over the last 2 years. Millington winning in 2019 & Dyersburg in 2020.
Oct. 22 McNairy Central (H) This is the first meeting between the two schools.
Oct. 29 Bolivar (A) Bolivar leads overall series 2-0 and both games came way back in the 83 & 84 seasons.
